Birds

Ever see the movie "The Birds"? Me neither .... but I sure did live it! Right before the last two snow storms my street has filled with birds.

In fact these pictures do not do the scene justice.

The sky was literally black with birds. My yard and the neighbors yard was
completely covered with birds ... and for those of you who know how big my back yard is ... you know that is A LOT of feather covered creatures. It was kinda creepy .....

TouchDown!

September and October found Ian playing flag football. This has been my favorite of his sports so far ...
His first few games were with the cast on his arm ... but this did not slow my boy down one bit.
He ran hard, he hiked, he kicked and he was determined to get the other team's flag.
He also learned very quickly to zig-zag across the field and move his hips out of the way to avoid anyone getting his flag. Ian was/is a natural at running the ball down the field.

Ian got to play on same team as Jaron bear! It was so much fun even if going twice a week kept us very busy!

Again next year?
I hope so!

Bring on the Bird

The bird day holiday is just around the corner ... and I have only 1 Thanksgiving decoration ... so after checking Michael's and Kohl's yesterday and finding they have no Turkey Day stuff ... they've already moved on the Christmas ... I decided we were having craft night and making some 'cute' turkeys to hang up ....

So ... with some paint, and some feathers, some googley eyes and glue ...
Ian and Anna made some Turkeys for mom. Or are they the turkeys? I get confused.
It was so much fun ... I am thinking we need to make it a weekly event ... crafts or games or something ... so check back often ... so I'll feel accountable and have to post our latest activity ... now ... what to do next week?
Gobble Gobble!

Super Bubble

Super Bubble bubble gum ... we all know it ... the Halloween bag is filled with handfuls at the end of the 'trick-or-treat' fun. It comes in every big, mixed, kids pick, candy bag. The hard little pick rock takes just moments to chew to softness ... the flavor lasts 180 seconds ... and for me it is the find of the day!

As I sifted thru the bowl of Halloween treats my fingers found themselves wrapped around the little prize. As the sweet bubble gum flavor flooded my senses, my mind was filled with a far off Halloween memory.

Many moons ago, when I was around Ian's age (7 or 8 years old) I remember laying on opposites ends of the couch with my mom, watching TV with a BIG bowl of Halloween candy between us. We proceeded to put as many pieces of gum in our mouths that we could hold. Seriously, we could barely chew the gob, we must've had over 10 pieces each! Then the challenge was ON! Who could blow the biggest bubble. I still hear the echo of us making grunting noises to get each others attention .... for we could not talk with a mouth full of gob ... and we'd blow and blow til the bubble burst! I do not remember who was declared the winner that night! I remember mom having gum in her eyebrows and stuck to her nose!

I guess that makes me the winner ... to have such a fond memory of holiday's past!

Now where is that son of mine ... I'm feeling a bubble gum bubble blowing contest coming on!

Wild and Crazy Friday!

Another wild and crazy Friday night ... and I wouldn't change a thing. Anna has changed her clothes 5 times ... from dress to dress to dress. Ian is playing with his sister ... making her laugh til she pee's her pants ... and their laughter fills the house. While I wish I had someone to share these simple pleasures with I am so content to be right where I am...

Besides ... tomorrow with the girls will fulfill my social life needs! As for tonight I am exactly in the right place.

Happy Halloween!

Fall is such a fun time .... the gateway to the magical holiday season ...
We carved pumpkins....

Anna had a fun pre-school Halloween party ... with games, crafts, cookie frosting, and dancing...

Ian's trick-or-treat bag was full of loot after his party ... who needs to go door to door with these kind of school parties!

Ian and I worked at the schools 1st haunted house ... it was a blast!

We then had a fun time enjoying chili and trick-or-treating at the Ramos house (ok I enjoyed the chili.... the kids enjoyed the treats!)

It was a great October! Now bring on the turkey ... Gobble, gobble, gobble!
